What Are the Park Hours at Linda Vista Skatepark?
Linda Vista Skatepark is open from 9 am to 9 pm each day. Skaters and onlookers are free to spend as much time at the park as possible during their hours. However, you will likely be kicked out of the park and may even face legal trouble if you loiter at the park outside of the official hours.
These hours exist to minimize noise complaints and for the safety of the skateboarders and people in the surrounding community.
Do You Have to Pay to Skate at Linda Vista Skatepark?
You won’t have to pay to skate at Linda Vista Skatepark. This is one of the biggest and most elaborate free skateparks in the United States.
How Do You Get to the Skatepark?
You can get into Linda Vista Skatepark by simply walking into it, you can enter the park from 2 entry ways, one by walking down a small set of stairs, the other through the front gate from the park entrance.
There is no admission fee and you don’t have to go past employees to get into the skatepark. You can park nearby on the street or try the Linda Vista Community Park parking lot.

Linda Vista Skatepark is home to a wide variety of obstacles. They have multiple bowls, rails, stairs, benches, banks, and boxes. Linda Vista Skatepark also has a full pipe which is hard to find at free skateparks.
The street course is one of the highlights of the Linda Vista Skatepark. This section focuses on stairs, handrails, and benches that you can grind or perform manuals on. Linda Vista Skatepark also features a unique bridge that overlooks the park. This lets you soak in the beauty of the 35,000-square-foot skatepark when you need to take a break.
As stated by the designer Site Design Group here, “The park includes a massive street plaza, a snaking ditch run, a flow bowl, a backyard bowl, a competition sized vert bowl, and a transition snake run featuring a signature full-pipe unlike any before it”.

What Material Is the Skatepark?
Linda Vista Skatepark is primarily made of concrete. There are also metal rails and coping on the bowls and boxes at the park. This is standard for most skateparks, but few are as large as and use as much concrete as Linda Vista.
How Busy Does It Get?
Linda Vista Skatepark gets quite busy because of its size and location. Over 1.3 million people live in San Diego, and the city has a high volume of skateboarders. Many skateboarders from other parts of California and other states visit Linda Vista Skatepark as well, so it gets quite busy.
Is the Linda Vista Skatepark Beginner Friendly?
Lina Vista is a great skatepark for beginners, but many of the elements and obstacles primarily appeal to experienced skaters. For example, beginners should avoid the rails, stairs, bowls, and a full pipe. These obstacles are dangerous and can be challenging even for experienced skateboarders.
The street course is among the best sections for beginners at Linda Vista Skatepark.
Are Helmets Required at Linda Vista Skatepark?
Helmets are required at Linda Vista Skatepark. They also require you to wear pads and protective gear to reduce the risk of injury. You may see skaters that don’t wear protective gear, however. If community officials see someone without protective gear, they have the authority to eject you from the skatepark in some cases.
Gear rules are not enforced often so many skaters are not wearing equipment required by the rules, I advise you wear equipment or ride at your own risk.
Do they Have Lights at the Skatepark?
Linda Vista Skatepark has lights that let you safely skate at night. Their lights turn on just before sundown and turn off around 9 pm when the park closes for the day. Luckily, the skatepark is also in a well-lit area, so you can safely leave the skatepark even if you stay there until it closes.
Do they Have Rental Equipment?
Linda Vista Skatepark doesn’t have rental equipment. You will need to bring your own skateboard and protective equipment as you cannot buy or rent it on the premises.
Can You Ride BMX at Linda Vista Skatepark?
You cannot ride BMX at Linda Vista Skatepark. Many skateparks don’t allow BMX because it can be quite dangerous when mixed with skateboarding. Any skater that has spent a lot of time at skateparks likely has witnessed their fair share of collisions between BMX riders and skateboarders. You will fly off your board if a BMX rider accidentally runs into you.
Bikes are much faster than skateboards and harder to control at such speeds, so they are not allowed at skateparks for good reason.
Can You Ride a Scooter at Linda Vista Skatepark?
Scooters aren’t allowed at Linda Vista Skatepark. Linda Vista Skatepark only allows skateboards, in-line skates, and rollerblades. Scooters, motorized vehicles, and BMX bikes aren’t allowed.
For scooters I can understand for the sole reason that so many kids would just scoot around getting in the way. Although, professional scooters should be allowed but I guess that would be impossible to enforce.
Can You Ride Roller Blades at Linda Vista Skatepark?
You can ride rollerblades at Linda Vista Skatepark, and it’s quite common. The park’s layout is conducive to rollerblading, and you can even safely carve the bowl with rollerblades.

Can You Ride Longboard at Linda Vista Skatepark?
There is no rule about longboarding stated, but it is a type of skateboard technically, so you can ride a longboard at the Linda Vista Skatepark, but they aren’t ideal for all of the obstacles.
For example, it is quite difficult to grind rails and skate bowls with a longboard as opposed to a skateboard. However, there are enough flat-ground sections at Linda Vista Skatepark that you can comfortably ride a longboard.
Longboards are better for streets where you can cruise and do flat ground tricks, or downhill ride.
Is there Wi-Fi at the Park?
Linda Vista Skatepark doesn’t have Wi-Fi at the park. With that in mind, I recommend using your cellular data when you are at the park. Otherwise, you can always use a friend’s Wi-Fi hotspot.

Linda Vista Skatepark has a deep history that relies on the community. The journey began in 2013 when the surrounding community pitched the idea to build a large skatepark in San Diego.
