The History of Tinnell Memorial Sports Park
Tinnell Memorial Sports Park opened in 2013 after seven years of planning. The initial plans to build the park started in 2006, but it took years to fund, design, and build the skatepark. Site Design Group, a prolific skatepark builder, was hired to design and build Tinnell Memorial Sports Park.
Site Design Group’s involvement led to the park being built to its fullest potential. The skatepark is named after Patrick Tinnell, a U.S. soldier from Lake Havasu City who tragically died. Tinnell Memorial Sports Park also pays tribute to a local skateboarder, Colin Sasseen, who passed away.
