Craig Ranch Skatepark isn’t just the biggest skatepark in Southern Nevada, but it’s one of the biggest in the United States.

Craig Ranch Skatepark spans 65,000 square feet of smooth concrete with four deep bowls. The park also features a large street course section with several skateable banks, rails, and stairs. You aren’t required to wear a helmet and pads at Craig Ranch Skatepark, but it is recommended because of how extreme many of the obstacles are.

The park is well-lit until it closes at 10:00 PM, and it is typically filled with skaters and BMX riders. Many of the obstacles are hard to skate, but there are many beginner-friendly obstacles to find in the street section. Where Is Craig Ranch Skatepark?

Craig Ranch Skatepark is in North Las Vegas, Nevada. This Las Vegas suburb is only a short 10-minute drive from the big city. The biggest landmark in the area is the massive Craig Ranch Regional Park, but the skatepark is mostly surrounded by small businesses and restaurants beyond that.

What Are The Hours At Craig Ranch Skatepark?

Craig Ranch Skatepark opens at 7:00 AM and closes at 10:00 PM. Some local skaters get confused because the hours don’t coincide with the hours for the adjacent Craig Ranch Regional Park.

The Regional Park opens at 9:00 AM and closes at 6:00 PM, but you can keep shredding at the skatepark for several hours after the standard park closes.

Do You Have To Pay To Get Into Craig Ranch Skatepark?

You don’t have to pay to get into Craig Ranch Skatepark as it’s a free park. Craig Ranch Park is an extension of a free local park.

How Do You Get Into The Skatepark?

It’s easy to get into Craig Ranch Skatepark as there are several parking lots near it. The skatepark is in Craig Ranch Regional Park which features several parking lots and spots. Depending on when you visit, you may not be able to find a spot in the parking lot closest to the skatepark.

However, that shouldn’t be a problem as the parking lots aren’t far from one another and they’re all close to the skatepark. Once you park, you can simply follow the path leading to the skatepark and start shredding.

Craig Ranch Skatepark is most notable for the four massive bowls. Each of the bowls is deep and open, making them perfect for multiple skaters and BMX riders alike to shred in unison. The clover-shaped bowl is one of the hardest to skate because one end of it is quite deep, even if it isn’t the biggest bowl there.

You will also find a cradle which you only find at competition-grade skateparks like Craig Ranch Skatepark. This obstacle is ideal for seasoned vert and transition skaters. However, street skaters and beginners will appreciate the large street-plaza-style section.

This section features a bank, stairs, rails, and flat ground for manuals and flip tricks. Several transition ramps near the street section appeal to both street and vert skaters. The back section of Craig Ranch Skatepark features layered banks, ramps, and ledges.

What Material Is The Park Made of?

Nearly every surface at Craig Ranch Skatepark is made of concrete. You will find smooth metal rails, but all the roll-ins, bowls, ramps, and ledges are made of concrete. There are also several small structures made of metal that provide shade to the skaters, rollerbladers, and BMX riders that visit the park.

How Busy Does It Get?

Craig Ranch Skatepark gets quite busy because it’s the biggest and most popular skatepark in Southern Nevada. There are nearly 275,000 residents in North Las Vegas alone, and the city of Las Vegas is home to over 646,000 residents. Because Craig Ranch Skatepark is near a major tourist city, you will also find many out-of-state visitors at the park.

Does The Skatepark Have Contests?

Craig Ranch Skatepark hasn’t held any contests recently and hasn’t announced any plans too soon. However, it was designed and built as a competition-grade skatepark, so it’s the perfect place for one soon.

Is Craig Ranch Skatepark Beginner-Friendly?

While Craig Ranch Skatepark features many extreme obstacles, it is a beginner-friendly skatepark. Beginners shouldn’t rush straight to the bowls at the park, however. There is plenty for beginners to do in the street skating sections at Craig Ranch Skatepark.

The covered section that leads to a stair and rails has plenty of room to practice your stance and learn basic tricks like ollies and kickflips. There are also manual pads and fun boxes that require little experience to shred, and they are fun no matter what your experience level is.

Are Helmets Required?

While helmets aren’t required at Craig Ranch Skatepark, the park rules recommend that you wear one. They also recommend that you wear protective pads, but you won’t be ejected if you fail to wear them. Even still, Craig Ranch Skatepark features several steep bowls that curve quickly, so I recommend wearing protective gear because falls are quite common.

Does Craig Ranch Skatepark Have Lights?

Craig Ranch Skatepark features several lights, and the park looks great at night. The lights turn on around sundown when it starts to get dark, and they stay on until shortly after the 10:00 PM closing time.

Do They Have Rental Equipment?

You cannot rent equipment at Craig Ranch Skatepark. Make sure that you have your skateboard, rollerblades, bike, helmet, and pads before you leave the house. There are several skate shops nearby, however, such as Pharmacy Boardshop and Fresa’s Skate Shop.

Can You Ride BMX at Craig Ranch Skatepark?

You can ride BMX at Craig Ranch Skatepark. The park is bike-friendly, and BMX riders can find plenty to shred between the transition obstacles and street course sections. Luckily, the bowls at Craig Ranch Skatepark aren’t too deep to discourage BMX riders from shredding.

Can You Ride a Scooter at Craig Ranch Skatepark?

Unfortunately, you cannot ride a scooter at Craig Ranch Skatepark. Many skateparks don’t allow visitors to ride scooters because of the risks involved with riding a scooter on extreme skatepark obstacles. This may eventually change, however.

Can You Ride Rollerblades at Craig Ranch Skatepark?

Rollerblades and inline skates are allowed at Craig Ranch Skatepark. The park features smooth concrete surfaces that are just as conducive to riding rollerblades as skateboards and bicycles.

Can You Ride a Longboard at Craig Ranch Skatepark?

Longboards are allowed at Craig Ranch Skatepark, but there isn’t much to do with them. Longboards are great for cruising and performing flat-ground tricks. However, they aren’t ideal for street obstacles and vert ramps or bowls.

The bowls are the main attraction at Craig Ranch Skatepark, and you will miss out on them if you bring a longboard. Craig Ranch Skatepark is still a great place to practice flat-ground longboard tricks.

Is There Wi-Fi at the Park?

There is no Wi-Fi at Craig Ranch Skatepark. However, the skatepark is close to several businesses and restaurants if you need to quickly access Wi-Fi if there is an emergency. Otherwise, you will have to rely on cellular data.

The History of Craig Ranch Skatepark

You may not be able to tell when you look at it now, but Craig Ranch Skatepark sits where an old golf course sat for years. The North Las Vegas community complained about the lack of public parks in the early 2000s. The local government heard the complaints and eventually began building Craig Ranch Regional Park in 2009.

The long construction process lasted until 2013 when the large park opened. Nearly a year later, the skatepark section opened and became a staple in the local skateboarding community. Craig Ranch Skatepark went on to become the biggest and most popular skatepark in Nevada.
